Cardboard Roll Heart Stamp

Cardboard Roll Heart Stamp

Today I want to show you how you can use a recycled cardboard rill to make a really effective heart stamp. The stamps will make great additions to your Valentines Day crafting and beyond. It's completely free and is really effective.

Love is well and truly in the air and with that you may be looking to introduce some fun heart themed activities to your homes and setting. These stampers are great to use across many celebrations including Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day along with shape topics.

All you need to make them is a recycled cardboard roll. I know some people have concerns about using recycled toilet rolls and if this is the case you can look to recycle a kitchen roll tube or buy some cardboard tubes from the craft store.

Start by manipulating your cardboard roll into a heart shape. Bring your fingertips together and press down to create the indent in the top centre. From here you can start to form the top of your card before bringing the opposite side down into a point to create the bottom.

If you are looking to do this activity with a group of children look at having a few heart stampers to hand as after a while the moisture from the paint and repetitive stamping can cause them to start deforming slightly.

Having a few on hand will mean you can change them as and if needed.

Submerge your heart stamper into some paint and begin to stamp across a piece of card. You can use the stamps to create card fronts, heart collages, wrapping paper or even heart bunting to create your own decorations for special events.

The stampers are great to use on the lead up to special occasions and just for fun too.

The children would no doubt have fun trying to form hearts themselves from the cardboard rolls and it would also be a great idea to challenge them to create other shapes too.

Children become fascinated with mark making at a young age. Through mark making children have the opportunity to explore their environment through fun sensory experiences that develops their creativity and fine motor skills. This activity allows children to practice their hand eye coordination and learn cause-and-effect of their actions as they stamp across their card.

Use your stampers to create patterns or extra detailing to collages. Through this fun, hands on art activity children will familiarise themselves with the heart shape. Lots of fun. Give them a go!
