Nature Collage Boards

Nature Collage Boards Forest School Nature Activities for Kids Early Years

It's currently half term for us and with so much change on the cards I wanted to have lots of Autumn fun with the children during this break. I booked a National Trust and with a back pack full of potential activities we set out for a day surrounded by the beautiful colours of Autumn. After our picnic we started making our Nature Collage Boards just before we started our Autumn walk trail.

I always keep a stash of cardboard that I use for activities and crafts. Cardboard is such a good base for so many things! I cut 3 boards out and grabbed some double sided sticky tape. I made sure the children had one each so they could create and make alongside one another rather than having to share and have to keep waiting for their turn to get some tape.

I also packed them their own pair of scissors and they set to work pulling out tape, cutting it down and adding it to their cardboard boards. It was a great little workout for their hands. They had to really concentrate pulling the tape out and cutting it in the lengths they wanted.

Sometimes their tapes were too long for the boards so they knew they needed to cut the tape down to make it fit.

Once there was good coverage we were good to go. I did bring along a shape hole punch too so they could look at cutting leaves and nature finds if they wished to.

This was something my daughter really enjoyed doing. She was creating a trail of stars behind her for other children to find which I thought was lovely.

It definitely made the walk last a lot longer than it would have as they children were keen to find lots of different colours and textures. The boys would take time out to run around before being distracted by something that they would pick up and come and add to their boards.

We did stop at one point to feed the ducks and we placed the boards on the bench while they went off to do that. They looked beautiful resting here with Autumn leaves and colour blanketing the floor beneath them.

The boards were a work in progress throughout our walk which was lovely. They looked delightful covered in nature treasure. Something that was so simple to do and a craft that used predominantly recycled materials which is always good.

Lets see this activity in action:

It really is looking very beautiful out there at the moment, here in the UK. I can't get enough of the Autumn colours. Crafting this time of year is my absolute favourite!
