I was contacted by Jay who is the owner of Glebe Cottages in Bude. I have only been to Bude once before, many years ago as a child. I recall the fun we had playing on the beaches and venturing into the towns and villages. He kindly invited us down for a stay and the thought of returning and doing it all again with my own children was really exciting.
Bude is a small seaside town in North Cornwall, UK. It is the most easterly town in North Cornwall and has more beaches than days of the week. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, the power of the wind and waves are loved by surfers all over the world. The rugged coast makes for a picturesque sight. With friendly villages and plentiful 'nic nac' shops there is sure to be something for all in Bude.
We arrived at Glebe House Cottages and admired the rolling countryside that lay before us. We didn't know at the time but this peaceful view would be the outlook from our accommodation for the next few days. We followed the driveway to the car park and ventured round to our cottage.
A court yard with climbing roses, fire pits and a seating area. Pleasing on the eye with a very cosy, welcoming atmosphere. I popped round to view the cottage on my own while the boys went for a run around in the grounds (to stretch their legs after the journey).
I opened the front door into the living area. With a newly fitted kitchen to my left, a dining table in front of me along with a television, CD player and two large sofas. There were two cubby holes that proved essential to store our suitcases etc and another door which led on to a ground floor bedroom. Inside was a bunk bed and chest of draws.
I went on to explore upstairs. The stairs being gated off upstairs and down were a welcome addition with the boys being so young. There was a large bathroom area with a shower cubical and a separate bath. Two further bedrooms could be found on the upper level. One with a king size bed and the other with two singles. The rooms were immaculately clean, with no expense spared. Solid wooden furniture, comfortable beds along with all the essentials needed to have a lovely stay.
I am not someone who settles anywhere. It takes me a while to adjust to a new place and I am not somebody who adapts well to change in general. There was just something about this place that felt like home. It was a place I loved being from the off.
There were 7 of us and the Poacher Cottage accommodated us perfectly as the twins were in travel cots. There are a range of different cottages that accommodate parties of different sizes. This is great for get aways with friends and families as they layout allows you to enjoy a holiday together but still venture to your own space to rest up and sleep.
We are big nature lovers here. Me and Mom have a love for gardens and to be able to sit in peaceful spots dotted around the grounds to admire the landscaped gardens was special for us. The thriving plants, the colours, the trees blowing in the wind while the birds filled the air with song - it was relaxing and oh so tranquil.
They also have a fabulous woodland on site. We ventured here with the torches at night time with the children. A real adventure in their eyes and we stood gazing up at a blanket of stars above. No light pollution. No noise. It was surreal and very different from what we are used to living in a city.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather during our stay, but come rain or shine - this opportunity wouldn't have gone a miss. An outdoor heated swimming pool! It was a wonderful addition to the outdoor space and we had some serious fun here. Accessible any time you wish too! What a treat!
We spent the days exploring Bude. We visited the beautiful sandy beaches- admired the coloured beach huts and stood gazing at the crashing waves on the shore. The children working together to build sandcastles and they held hands - running fully clothed in the sea.
We didn't have to purchase any buckets, spades, wind breakers etc as the cottage have a stable room packed full of everything you could possibly need and want for outdoor fun and beach visits!
Walking into that room was like walking into a treasure trove - pretty much everything you could think of. These additions created lots of opportunities for even more fun for us during our stay.

We visited Boscastle. We ate ice creams, walked the cliff tops and browsed the nic nak shops. We sat on the grassy cliff banks eating snacks and sipping ice cold drinks in the sunshine before venturing back down into the town for fish and chips. The days were lovely, exploring all these wonderful picturesque places before retreating back to our wonderful cottage.
I loved how local you were to the towns and the beaches.

There were so many wonderful spots around the grounds to just sit and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. It was lovely being out together as a family, getting back to the cottage and while the children were getting fed and watered back in our accommodation - me and Mom would go for a well being walk - soaking up the rays and taking in the beauty around us.
As the cottage is so close to the beach - we went for sunset walks. What a wonderful time to be here. With rich hues lighting up the sky and the sea throwing back out the beautiful shades of reds and oranges.
Lets take a look at our stay at Glebe House Cottages:
to see LOTS of crafts and activities.
During your stay at Glebe House Cottages you can opt to have freshly baked breads and pastries delivered to you on a morning. We had the pleasure of trying this out and my word - they were divine. Not only did we have the scent fill our cottages, the food was mouthwatering and a real treat that they were still hot on arrival.
We had the most wonderful stay at Glebe House Cottages. What a wonderful place to holiday. The owners are so friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure that our stay was a great one. Everything had been thought of. There was so much to do on site that you could afford to not even leave the complex for a few days.
A wonderful place for families and couples. Glebe House Cottages really does have something for everybody and I am beyond thankful that we had the opportunity to stay there.
The children continue to ask when we will be going back, which says in itself that the place had an impact on them too.
I would like to thank Jay and his lovely family for creating this wonderful place that has made some very happy memories for us. I hope to return very soon.
