I am seeing the most beautiful Autumn arts and crafts floating around and its making us feel inspired. I love a something about all seasons but there is something extra special about Autumn! Today I want to share with you an Autumn Family Tree Craft that me and Neve did together during the twins nap time.

You will need:
Paints
Paint Brush
Paper/Card
Pens/Crayons
Begin by creating the trunk and branches of your tree. We used a paint brush to help spread the brown paint all down Neves hands and part of her arm. She always giggles uncontrollably as the sensation tickles. If you/your child didn't want to use paint you could always draw around your hand/arm on a brown piece of paper and cut it out to use.
Once you have your prints in place on your A4 paper - whether you have printed using paint or stuck down your paper cut out - you are ready to start adding the Autumn colours. We have a lovely set of Leaf Sponges, you can find them here - UK/US
We also used the sponges to create our Leaf Autumn Wreath and Poem Craft.
Print as you wish across the top of your picture. You may also want to add some colour to the bottom to represent the fallen leaves.
We used a plastic plate to add our paint to. I usually use paper plates that can be thrown away afterwards. Plates work well for printing with sponges as you get a larger surface area.
Whilst your artwork is drying move on to drawing the members of your family. Who lives in your house? I would highly advise using a glue stick to stick down your pictures. We used PVA glue and it did seep through slightly meaning we needed to go over our pictures again once it had fully dried.
Lets take a look at the craft in action:
Once your pictures are stuck down on your tree the craft is complete. A lovely little keepsake to treasure.
I really like the idea of doing this for a full year with the seasons a different themes. It would be lovely in particular if a new addition is due to join the family - showing how your family has changed over the year.
