With the end of the school year fast approaching again and Mothers Day and Fathers Day around this time of year too, you may have started browsing fun gifts to make with the children.
I don't think you can beat a gift that has been home made. It shows real care and thought has gone into it. Today I want to share with you a beautiful Thank you for Helping me Grown Canvas that my daughter has made using her finger tips.
I showed a sneak peak of this on my Instagram, so make sure you are subscribed to us on YouTube too!
For this craft, you will need:
Canvas
Paint
Paint Brushes
Buttons
PVA Glue
Black Marker Pen
I picked up the canvas from the works for £2. They sell different sizes and I picked up a handful in different sizes. Not with any craft in mind, just simply knowing that one day I may just craft with the children and they would come in handy. I wasn't sure what paint to use. I started by using some children's paint (water based) I trailed it on the back of the canvas and it worked find. You might want to try this too. Acrylic paints would work fine.
She started by covering the canvas with a beautiful sky blue. We didn't add too much paint as we didn't want the canvas swamped in clumps of paint that we had to wait to dry before moving on. With a good coverage I found the paint to dry really fast.
Once the paint had dried Neve moved on to making the flowers, using her finger tips. She began by pressing one petal down and rotating the canvas as needed to complete the flower.
She traced over the letters using a permanent marker pen.
A blob of PVA glue was added to the centre of each flower and Neve pressed down some shiny yellow buttons. It did take a while for the glue to dry. Don't be tempted to stand the canvas up too soon like I did. Luckily I was watching as I saw the buttons slowly gliding out of place so I could lay it flat again and wait till it ha fully dried.
Lets take a look at this craft in action -
Finally she painted green stems and leaves on the flowers. A very simple, beautiful craft that came together so well. A great gift to give to Someone Special.
For a cost of £2, I would say that is money well spent indeed. I would be thrilled to receive one.
