Stained Glass Christmas Silhouettes

Stained Glass Christmas Silhouettes

We've made lots of lovely Sun Catchers over the last year. They add lots of colour to the windows and the possibilities are endless. Today I want to share with you a wonderful stained glass craft, with a Christmas theme of course! I just can't get enough of Christmas crafting!

Using a different technique with this craft follow the step by step guide to create your very own decorations. Remember to print out the free printable Christmas shapes at the bottom of this page to create your templates.

You will need:
Tissue Paper
Scissors
Black Paint
Glue
Paintbrushes
Popsicle Sticks
Twine
Black Card
Contact Paper
Printed out Templates (download at the bottom of the post)

Begin by painting your popsicle sticks black. You will need 4 sticks per ornament you make. You can use regular children's paint or acrylic paint. Make sure you have a protection sheet down to avoid any staining on the surfaces. Allow them to completely dry.

While you are waiting for your sticks to dry, download and print out the silhouette template. Trace the template onto your black card and cut it out. Set this aside whilst you proceed with the next step.

Glue the dried popsicle sticks into a square to form the frame of your stained glass ornament. Tear your tissue paper into small pieces. Using contact paper larger than the size of the square formed with your popsicle sticks, begin covering with tissue. Cut out another piece of contact paper to place on the top of the tissue. Press out any bubbles that may form.

Use scissors to cut out the section needed to sit on the back of your square frame. Add the black card silhouette cut out previously with some glue to your contact paper. Once it is stuck in place glue the contact paper onto the popsicle stick square.
Add a piece of twine to the top of your ornaments to hang up on the wall/tree.
