This was a beautiful process art that me and my Preschooler enjoyed doing together and we used our Caterpillar Pom Pom Pegs to transform our Watercolour Paintings into beautiful butterflies!
I don't know about your house hold but my Preschooler really enjoys her stories and she tends to have a favourite one from time to time which will often inspire what we get up to.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been enjoyed lots at the moment so you may have been following along and seeing all the lovely Caterpillar Crafts she has been busy doing. (I will add the links at the bottom of this post so you can check them out!)
To make your very own Watercolour Butterflies......
You will need:
Paper Towels
Paint Brushes
Water Colours
Water
Start painting your paper towels. We found that the paint seeped through the towels and did mark the table so if you have a surface that you would like to protect make sure you add something underneath. Tin Foil may be a good option.
A personal thing I enjoyed about this activity was how absorbed my Preschooler was. We have some lovely conversations while we were busy painting together about all sorts. I found that really special.
It didn't take long for us to fill the kitchen roll with beautiful colours! I left them to dry but again they did mark the surface as they were drying, so if you need to make sure you have something underneath to prevent any stains from happening.
We made some lovely Pom Pom Caterpillars on pegs a week or two ago and we used these to transform our artwork into beautiful butterflies! I folded the paper towels up and places the peg in the center.
They looked great and the colours are so pretty and vibrant!!
It was great using a previous craft we had enjoyed too to transform our process art.
You could also make butterflies like this using coffee filters.
One of my personal favourites of coffee filtered butterflies was created by:
Messy Little Monster. Why not check it out and see which way tickles your fancy more so?
Or you could attempt giving both process' a try!!
As I promised here is a link to our previous Caterpillar/Butterfly Arts, Crafts and Adventures:
Oh and of course while you are busy doing all these FAB Caterpillar crafts be sure to fit in a Nature Walk and go on a Caterpillar Hunt!
