Freezing Frozen Preschool Science

The Frozen obsession continues in our household with my 3 year old and over the course of the last year we have done lots of fun Frozen Inspired activities and crafts....

Frozen Inspired Sensory Bag
Frozen Inspired Icy Small World
Frozen Inspired Shoe Box Small World
Frozen Inspired Cardboard Sleigh

Today we are sticking with the Frozen theme and sharing our Freezing and Melting Science Experiment that is great for Preschool children!

You will need:
Containers
Water
Frozen Characters (or any others you child is into)
Pipettes
Tray
Bowl

Place your figures into a container each. You may want to add some pony beads, glass nuggets/gems, glitter etc too. Freeze them in 2/3 stages. This will prevent the figures from all rising and freezing in the same spot.
Once they are Frozen solid you are ready to do your table top Freezing and Melting Science Experiment.

Use a tray to do the experiment - this will capture the water spillages. You can remove the ice blocks from the containers and place them on the tray or leave it to see what your little ones decide to do? I left Little N to see what she would do......

In an empty bowl add some warm water and use pipettes to squeeze up the warm water and pour over your ice.

The warm water will start melting the ice and before your little ones very eyes they will see the figures become set free from the ice!

Little N enjoyed feeling the figures with her fingertips as they were submerging out from the ice.

She enjoyed using the pippettes but after a while she decided to speed up the process even more....

She started to take out the blocks of ice from their bowls and she slowly submerged them into the bowl of warm water.

She used the pipette to mix it all around and it wasn't long before the figures started 'breaking free' from the ice.

We joined in with a great blog series hosted by Crafty Kids at Home. The A-Z series is jam packed full of indoor activities to do with your children.

Perfect for this time of year in particular when the weather can be too miserable to venture out in.
