Loose Part Play is when you bring a range of materials together that can be moved around, lined up, ordered and designed in a range of different ways.
The materials you can select are endless and today we are sharing with you some of the materials we have been using in our Loose Parts Play on the Homemade DIY Lightbox that we created.
The tray that I use to keep these materials contained is ideal and I purchased it from IKEA. They have a wide range of designs, some with more compartments and some with less.
In our tray we had:
Straws, Pom Poms, Gems, Glass Stones, Sea Shells, Liquids Timers, Sensory Bottles, Christmas Decorations, Snowflakes, Coloured Cellophane, Perfume Lids and Cocktail Stirrers.
There was a wide range of materials for Little N to explore and enjoy. She still really enjoy filling and emptying so loves exploring everything in the tray and placing them on the lightbox.
She explored how you can change the colour of the perfume bottle lids by placing them ontop of coloured cellophane.
She went through every colour and was amazed each time! (Boy do I love this age!)
We had a go at making some patterns together:
The liquid timers looked particularly great on the light table!
Little N had a go at shaking them to make the liquid form tiny bubbles inside. She enjoyed watching them move around under the lights!
Dont forget to check the Christmas stash too!! Often their are many ornaments that work great on the light box!
Little N really enjoyed playing on the light table tonight, so much so that I think she will ask for it tomorrow too!!
If you would like to learn more about Loose Parts Play we have a fabulous guest post with lots of detail and inspiration that is well worth checking out!
We enjoyed taking part in the 30 day play challenge hosted by Adventures of Adam.
