Toilet Roll Snowflake Craft

I wonder how many times I have heard my little one burst into Frozen songs this year? I wonder how many times I have bursted into Frozen songs this year!!? Winter is fast approaching and we are already very excited for the snow that we have coming our way!!

We have been crafting, making some cute snowflakes made from toilet rolls!! It really is fun to see what you can make using free materials that are heading for the bin!

I got the lovely idea from a post I spotted on Pinterest by Krokotak and I just had to give them a go! They turned out beautifully and my Toddler really did love making them (while she was singing 'Let it go' of course)

You will need:

Toilet Rolls
Scissors
Glue (we used PVA)
Paint (you can use any colour you wish, we used blue and white)
Sequins
Glitter
String/Ribbon
Paintbruhes

Apply pressure to the toilet roll so the sides start to come together. You dont want to fold it down completely. Cut the toilet roll into strips and snip out 'v' shapes in each end. You could always experiment and create different patterns

Use your glue to start sticking them together and allow them to completely dry before painting them. Make sure you add plenty of glue to prevent them from 'unsticking' once you add your paint.

I decided to add white and blue paint onto an oblong pallette. This gave Little N the opportunity to explore mixing colours to get different shades of blue! When she had finished painting the snowflakes she made sure she used the rest of the paint by painting her hands and arms and grasping her palms together, enjoying the sensation and all the 'squelching'.

Once the paint dried we added glitter and sequins before threading through some string and hanging them up.

We went on a walk and collected some branches, we popped them into a vase and Little N hung them on the tree!

Not bad for a toilet roll heading to the recycle bin ay?
