Autumn Light Box

I am such a fan of fairy lights! In fact I want to let you into a little secret....
I keep at least one set of fairy lights up in my home all year round!! They make me feel cosy, and their warm white lights give off such a welcoming ambiance! I have a set above my patio doors at the moment. I love having a cup of tea (....or hot chocolate) in the dining room once the little one is tucked away in bed, all the chores are done and I can just have 10 minutes to zone out and chill out!!  The little fairy lights give me that 'peace at last' feeling. Anyway I am here to share with you another activity we have been enjoying with all the Nature we collected on our Nature Walks over the weekend. We were so happy with how the Nature Jars turned out that I got out the Light Box for Little N. 
I placed a handful of items onto the Light Box, left the rest in the basket next to the invitation to play and on went the lights inside the box. All that was left to do then was wait for her to discover. She was thrilled to pieces when she saw the box! We haven't had it out much over the Summer so part of me wondered if she had forgotten all about it.
The jars looks great up against the light! Little N was absorbed for sometime by them. She kept rolling them slighting back and forth on the light box. It moved the contents around and you could hear them bobbing around inside the jars.
The leaves looked so intriguing when placed on the light box. You could see all the veins and the little holes. Little N asked so many questions about them so a great talking point! It will be interesting to see if she remembers our chats in future finds like this too!! 


As you can see in the top left hand image I also added some clear square cellophone. I chose Autumn colours wondering if she would attempt to colour match.
She didn't but instead she placed inside conkers and acorns and told me she was making 'lovely sweets for the birds and squirrels so they wont be hungry'.
I love play like this. If you sit back and observe it's beauty you learn so much about the child that is playing. 
You learn about their thought processes and have more insight on what they know.


So there we have our Autumn Light Box! Some of the items wont last too long, a couple of days at most! That just means we will have to go on another Nature walk to collect more Autumn Treasures!
