Frozen Inspired Ice Castle Small World

My Little one is Frozen mad, she enjoyed the Frozen Inspired Small World in the Shoe Box so much I decided to step things up a little. We have been having such hot weather here in the UK lately we have been spending a lot of our time outdoors.
I had the idea when I was playing with her in the sandpit as she has various sand molds - some of them castle themed. I went and washed them all off and added water to freeze.
I wanted to add glitter and sequins to add to the 'magic'. I froze it all in stages to prevent the 'pretties' rising to the top. This actually didn't look very effective in the finish and looked much better adding the glitter and sequins afterwards.
I swilled the molds with warm water to release the ice. Before giving ice to children you must be sure to swill the ice off with warm water to begin the melting process. This stops the ice from sticking to the skin.
I covered a tray with tin foil which added to the effect even more. I added the 'ice castle' along with glass nuggets, pom poms, silver curling ribbon, silver glitter and sequins. I even squeezed together small balls of cotton wool for 'snowballs'.

The top of the large castle was already starting to melt as Little N came over. She touched the cold ice with her hand and went straight for Kristoff. She lay him down on the top of the castle and said "Kristoff you are too smelly go and have a bath". That really did bring a smile to my face! I just love observing play like this. Its pure and special! 
What are you waiting for? Go and raid your little ones sand pit and get freezing some ice to create your very own icy castle! The characters I used in this set up were from Disneys 'Busy Book'. They are available on Amazon, in Home Bargains in the UK and Asda. They have other Busy Books too, they are fabulous and really worth checking out!
It is important that activities like this are fully supervised by a responsible adult. Small parts can be very dangerous for children.
