I dont know about you, but I have never finished a whole bag of spuds! There are always the odd one or two left in the bag that start sprouting and have to end up being thrown away. You can use these left over potatoes to do this lovely Tulip Printing spring craft !
We have only done potato printing once before when we created poppies for Remembrance Day. So Little N was straight over to the invitation to play and was initally amused that there were potatoes to paint with.
You will need:
Paper
Paints
Flat painting tray
Potatoes
Knife
1. Take your potato and cut it in half. Carve out the potato to create a tulip shape. Aim for three to four tips to create the perfect tulip print.
2. Dip your carved potato into paint. Use a flat painting tray and ensure the paint has spread out enough to get a good coverage of paint on your spud.
3. Time to start printing!
4. Add stems by either using paint or the real thing. We created some with real plant stems and some with painted stems. The real stems were fun for 3D flower art but if you want your painting to last add stems using paint. You would also use washie tape and pipe cleaners.
