Gift Wrapping Role Play for Kids

We are always busy looking for fun crafts for kids and today we enjoyed a gift wrapping role play.

Nanny's Birthday is coming up very soon and Little N is very excited about giving her her gifts and spoiling her. So today, this activity fitted in perfect with Little N's interests. I actually have quite abit of small amounts of paper from birthdays, new babies and christmas that were perfect to use in this Tuff Tray!

What we used:

Tuff Tray
Ribbons
Curling Ribbons
Kid friendly scissors
Gift Tags
Bows
Pens
Wrapping Paper
Sellotape
Items to wrap such as candles, ornaments, toys

I have a variety of wrapping paper 'cut off's'. You know the small pieces that you have left over, too big to throw away but too small to have been used on recent items wrapped. I have paper left over from Christmas too so todays play session was not only great fun for Little N but it did me a favour too as I found a use for all the left over wrapping.

I set up the Tuff Tray with a variety of items that Little N may wanted to use for her gift wrapping. I had placed a few items she could wrap but I also encouraged her to select her own from around the home too.

I really took a back seat with this and stepped in when she asked me to. She was so drawn in by all the colours and enjoyed selecting the items to wrap up.

She wrote the tags out and stuck them onto the gifts with sellotape. I was amazed at how well she worked the tape dispenser and how accurate she was at fixing the parcels together. She loved the ribbons and was spot on with identifying her colours. She asked me to help her add the bows.

She spent a good while doing all her wrapping and when she was finished around 40 minutes later, we took it in turns selecting the gifts for each other and opening them.

I have some more paper left over so I am sure we will be doing a role play gift wrapping station again soon.

BestToys4Toddlers are hosting a 60 Day Junk Challenge - creating fun activities, arts, crafts and games by recycling a variety of items. Today we joined in with a wrapping paper activity, head on over to their page
