Pom Pom Drop

Today I am going to share with you a game perfect for Toddlers that we have enjoyed putting together, using some simple items that you may have already lying around your home.

I am always amazed at how the simplest of activities and play set ups entertain young children for the longest time.

This was one of them activities in our house hold.

Here is - Homemade Pom Pom Drop game for Toddlers
(Similar to the well loved game of Kerplunk)

You will need:
Colander
Kebab Sticks
Pom Poms

1. Use the kebab sticks and feed them through the holes on the colander.
Tips - Use enough sticks to make this effective.
        - If your kebab sticks have any sharp points you can cut these off

2. Once all the kebab sticks are in place it's now ready to play this kerplunk pom pom drop game.
Tips - Use a range of different sized pom poms and take this opportunity to talk about their size difference.

Little N really enjoyed this game and with little help she even had a very good go and threading the sticks through the holes in the colander. She enjoys having a go and doing things herself, so after observing me do a couple she insisted to try too.

We used 2 different sized pom poms and as Little N's language is coming on quickly she enjoyed talking about the sizes and laughing as the big ones kept getting stuck between the sticks.

This very simple activity has been Little N's activity of choice consistently for the last week. She enjoys putting it together by herself. It's improving her fine motor skills. She sits concentrating as she works at threading the sticks through the holes. It's even giving me a few minutes to get some chores done here and there while she is entertained!

Note: Some of the pom poms are rather small so this activity needs adult supervision due to small parts.
