Autumn Leaf Prints

After some wonderful woodland walks, talking about all the new colours we could see - today we set about doing some Autumn Leaf Printing using sponges. I had randomly squirted Autumn colours into a painting tray to create colourful leaf prints.

I set out the sponges and included some paint brushes for Little N as she is really enjoying using them at the moment. Little N was already sitting down in her apron looking forward to exploring the paint with the sponges.
"Wow, I did it!" Little N said excitedly as she revealed the leaf prints on the paper.

After several more leaf prints Little N selected the paint brush.
She began to drag her paint brush covered in colourful paint across the paper " It's a rainbow" she said. (This is the first times she has ascribed meaning to her pictures.)

She added some leaf prints to her rainbow. Using her paintbrush she began to mix the colours together in the tub.
"Mommy, look orange" she said.
Little N suddenly noticed she had paint all over her hands.
"Hands all dirty now!" She said.
"Don't worry, we will wash them when you have finished" I said. She happily continued to paint and made some lovely pictures! They looked really effective especially having all of the different colours on one leaf print!
