Wood Slice Snowman Ornament

Wood Slice Snowman Ornament

I am so excited to share this craft with you today! You have loved the Salt Dough Snowman Keepsake we created this time last year and it has remained in our top 5 most viewed posts all year long! This is another fabulous craft that has the same beautiful fingerprint snowman design but on a wood slice ornament. So you haven't got the mess of the Salt Dough and children can create their own designs from start to finish!

You will need:
Wood Slices
White and Blue Paint
Paint Markers/Pens (Highly Recommend this set on Amazon - UK/US)
Paint Brushes
Ribbon/Twine

Wood Slice Snowman Ornament

Begin by protecting your surfaces. Create your own shade of blue by adding as much white as desired. You will no doubt have to do 2-3 coats of paint as the paint will initially sink into the wood. Be sure to allow the paint to dry between coats.

Once you're happy with the background of your ornament, dip your fingers into the white paint. Press them firmly down onto the wood to make sure you have a clear print.
Using a paint brush, add snowflakes. You can use the end of the brush to add snow.

Allow the white paint to dry completely. Use pant pens to draw black hats, colourful scarves, eyes, buttons and a mouth. You could also give the option of using real buttons and various other craft materials.

Add string/ribbon to the top of your ornament, ready to hang up on the Christmas Tree.

There you have it a fabulous ornament to treasure for many years to come!
Remember to have your children add their names to the back of their masterpieces.
