We have been recycling our Baby Breakfast tub lids to create some beautiful heart suncatchers! With twins we are getting through so many of these pots! Lids come in for different craft projects. We used them to make our PVA Suncatchers! So I have been putting the lids aside (just in case) - which as you can imagine has pleased my other half profusely! HA!
You will need:
Plastic Lids
Scissors
Laminator and Laminating Pouches OR Sticky Back Plastic
Sellotape
String/Ribbon
Tissue Paper.
Carefully use the scissors to pierce a hole in the centre of the lid. This part is definitely for adults. Take care when doing this as it's so easy to slid. Cut out the centre of the lid so you are left with the outer rim.
You will also need to pierce a hole in the top of your lid if you wish to hang them up with string. I did attempt to do the hole with a pair of scissors but had no joy. So I heated the end of a screw driver and used that to pierce the hole. This would also be a job for an adult.
Like me, you could have them all cut up ready for the children, before they sit down to do the craft.
I cut hearts into different coloured tissue paper. Did you see the Recycled Baby Jar Heart Luminaries we made using these hearts too? I love them and have them lit each night!
You could also use coloured cellophane if you wanted.
We used a laminating pouch to pop the hearts inside and once Neve had finished decorating I put it through the laminator and cut circle shapes out big enough to fit inside the lid. You could use glue or sellotape to secure it in place.
Another option would be to use sticky back plastic. I just didn't have any of this in today, but laminating pouches do a great job too!

Starting to come along nicely! I love that hearts are great for decorations all year round, as well as celebrations such as Valentines Day and Mothers Day!
Did you see the Love you to Pieces Suncatcher card we made recently? It was a big hit over on our Facebook page!!
I then used some string, popped it through the holes I created and tied. Don't they look lovely? I'm looking forward to seeing them against a blue sky!!
