It has been a while now since I made a batch of play dough. Little N had lots of playdoh brought her, so she has been busy enjoying that! Seeing as Halloween is on the horizon I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get making!!

You will need:
Plain Flour
Hot Water
Salt
Food Colouring
Cream of Tartar
Vegetable Oil
Optional:
This play dough is so quick and easy to make!
Pour 2 cups of flour in a bowl, along with 1 cup of salt. Add 2 spoonfuls of cream of tartar, 1 spoonful of oil, your food colouring and 1 cup of boiling hot water. Use a spoon to start working the mixture together. I personally like to mix them together before I add the water too, as I find it comes together much better.
You will see the mixture coming together pretty quickly. Wait until it has cooled down a little before using your hands to finish working the mixture together.
When I make play dough at home it costs very little so you can afford to make a couple of batches and offer a variety of play opportunities. These two big balls of play dough are from just 1 batch!
I like using dishes offering a variety of differing medias to add to the play dough. For our Halloween Playdough our medias to explore with the play dough looked like this:
I find these little paint palettes perfect for these activities!! They are perfect to separate them and are small enough to not take over the table. You can buy one just like this ------> HERE - UK / US
They are great for imaginative play! Little N has sat 'making cakes' using the spaghetti as candles. I have heard her retelling the story Goldilocks and speaking about making porridge for the hungry baby bear. Shes spoken about how the mixture feels all lumpy with the different things added.
I know how much play dough is loved at my little ones Nursery so I made them a batch of it too!
I used some cobweb bags, tags we created - available in our shop, and some black wrapping string.
So what are you waiting for? Get to your local supermarket for the ingredients and make some playdough for the little ones to enjoy!
