Christmas Playdough Wreath

Hello, my name's Jo and I'm a stay at home mum to Ryan who's just turned 2 years old.
I was thrilled to be asked by Amy to share my play dough Christmas play dough idea with you all! Toddlers and pre-schoolers love play dough so why not give it a go!

First you need to make the play dough, so this is the recipe I used -
375g flour
480ml water
130g salt
3tbsp oil
3tbsp cream of tartar
Green food colouring

Add all the ingredients to a pan and cook over a medium heat, stirring frequently. The mixture will start to come away from the sides after about 5 minutes or so and clump together. Tip out on to a work surface and leave to cool before kneading. You can also add glitter if you like at this stage.

Set up an invitation to play -

Select a few items to decorate the tree, for example large sequins, pom poms, sparkly stars, beads, buttons, pipe cleaners (we used metallic ones to look like tinsel!), plastic gems - whatever you have in your craft stash.

I made a wreath shape from the dough. I did this by rolling the dough into a circle and cutting out the middle. Ryan really did enjoy decorating the wreath and exploring the different textures as he did so.

I shaped our play dough into a cone shape for Ryan too which he really enjoyed decorating.

We love play dough in our house and as a bonus, its excellent for practising those fine motor skills and exercising those little finger muscles.

Hope you have a great Christmas!
